Ortigosa Home was founded in 1889 as a retirement home. In 1947, Ortigosa became a foster home for girls with no economic resources, orphans, abandoned, or with severe family problems. Ortigosa is under the care of the “Siervas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y de los Pobres”, a Catholic order founded by father José María de Yermo y Parres.

For over 50 years, this foster home has formed more than 4,000 women who have been successfuly integrated into society.
